Parents, Teens, and Tobacco

Johnson Memorial Hospital (JMH) will sponsor a health education program entitled "Parents, Teens, and Tobacco" on Thursday, July 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Reading Room at Willington Public Library, 7 Ruby Road. The program will focus on the smoking rate for teens, which tends to run higher than that of adult smokers, and will include tips for parents on keeping their children tobacco-free. The program is made possible through a grant recently awarded to JMH from the Connecticut State Office of Rural Health for its collaborative efforts with Eastern Highlands Health District and Northeast District Department of Health in promoting a tobacco-free community throughout the towns of Ashford, Union and Willington. The goal of the tobacco-free community initiative is to reduce the negative effects of smoking or smoke exposure through prevention strategies. The program is free and open to the community. Space is limited. To sign up or for further information, please contact the JMH Community Resource line at 860-684-8487.
